The first 72 hours after arrest are a crucial crossroads. Without support, individuals can lose housing, jobs, and even custody of their children. This can lead to a cycle of despair and repeat incarceration.
The Case Navigator Program intervenes at this critical moment, offering a lifeline to those facing the justice system. To deliver this critical support, we've staffed the program with two dedicated Case Navigators working directly within the EBR Parish Prison who work to provide:
Needs Assessment: Our Case Navigators assess the unique needs of each newly arrested individual, going beyond the surface to identify underlying issues like mental health concerns or lack of job training.
Connecting to Resources: We serve as a bridge, connecting individuals to critical resources like housing assistance, employment opportunities, healthcare services, and mental health support.
Reduced Recidivism, Stronger Community: By addressing these needs, we empower individuals to break the cycle of incarceration and build a stable future. This not only benefits them, but fosters a safer and more just community for everyone.
The Case Navigator Program is unique in East Baton Rouge Parish. We collaborate extensively with key partners in the justice system and community service providers. This collaboration ensures a smooth transition back into society, maximizing the program's impact.
